ABOUT "SQUAD"
Champions are seldom born. Most are made.
With the right guidance, the right training, and the right community that supports dreams, almost everyone can become a champion.
Many aspiring champions with lots of talent and potential often find themselves in a tough spot... trying to find an academy that has been around long enough to garner the experience required to "make" a player, understands the competitive development pathway, and is focused on "process" rather than outcome goals.
For aspiring champions, it's not just a simple choice - it's a decision that could make or break their future in competitive badminton.
Fortunately, our story began in 2012, by turning players into champions!
We dedicated ourselves to sharpening the abilities of our students, many of whom went on to shine in competitions around the world.
As days turned into years, our student body grew and our training programme evolved to embrace players of all skill levels.
However, our legacy of creating champions remained a core part of our DNA.
For those passionate individuals with a burning desire to excel and reach the top of their game, we crafted a special programme tailored to their needs:
The "SQUAD PROGRAMME"
It's an Individualized and annual training programme developed by the PSA Coaching Team with hundreds of man-years of coaching experience for those who are serious about their badminton journey.
BUT… WHAT MAKES "SQUAD" SO UNIQUE?
Research Conducted Training: Incorporates key elements of the LTAD™️ (Long Term Athlete Development), a 15-years research conducted by Badminton Canada to ensure injury-free, long-term performance.
Training For Peak Performance: Covers general preparation, specific preparation, competitive phase (preparatory & targeted tournaments) and recovery phase.
Comprehensive Athlete Development: Includes all-round athlete development including physical, mental and emotional conditioning to instill the skills, mindset, health and discipline necessary to compete at the highest level.
Structured Timeline: Operates across three terms and two camps throughout the year, ensuring a consistent and progressive training experience for participants.
Selective Admission: Entry into the SQUAD Programme is by assessment. Players need to have demonstrated potential in the sport and commitment to a rigorous training schedule of 12 to 15 hours per week.
Tailored Physical Conditioning: Age-appropriate physical conditioning is integrated both on and off the court, utilizing a scientific approach to optimize player development.
Competitive Opportunities: From local tournaments to international competitions, players engage in a variety of events based on their readiness and development level.
Process-Oriented Philosophy: Emphasis is placed on the journey of improvement rather than solely focusing on outcome-based goals, fostering a mindset conducive to long-term success.
Individualized Performance Evaluation: Player performance is measured relative to their own potential rather than compared to peers or competitors, ensuring personalized growth trajectories and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Periodic Progress Reports: Provides regular progress reports to track individual improvement and set goals for continuous growth and development. A regular Player-Parent-Coach feedback loop ensures all relevant stakeholders are pulling in the same direction.
